Friendship is one of the most important relationships among people yet it is almost totally ignored by depth and Jungian psychologists. In todays contemporary world, more people have “friends” who are only on Facebook. This presentation beginning, with active imaginations, explores the benefits of true friendship, how friendships form and break, and the role of friendship like feelings in the transference and countertransference, with clinical examples. It also discusses the show of friendship: betrayal and the new concept of “frienemy”
