Stephen Hanvey

Stephen Hanvey has a background in social work where child protection was part of his brief. He served as the first CEO for Circles UK, a national charity established in 2007 to develop a community-based service working with men and women convicted of serious sexual offences. He has written in criminal justice publications on this innovative programme, and co-authored “A Community-Based Response to the Reduction of Sexual Reoffending” (Jessica Kingsley 2011). His paper is entitled Scapegoats and the kindness of strangers – Comprehending shadow in our communities.
