Professor David Napier

David Napier is Professor of Medical Anthropology at University College London, and Director of the University’s Centre for Applied Global Citizenship. He is also the inaugural Director of its Science, Medicine, and Society Network—an award-winning interdisciplinary initiative established to bring together academics, social activist, policymakers, and the media to address some of society’s most pressing and urgent problems. Trained in science and philosophy, Napier spent many years as a practicing artist (exhibiting in Europe and the US) before moving into anthropology thirty years ago. Prior to coming to UCL in 2004,he was a fellow of Harvard University, New York University, Johns Hopkins University, and several colleges in the UK (including among them All Souls College and Green Templeton, Oxford).
