11.00 Coffee and Registration

11.30 Western Alchemy and Christianity
Followed by Questions and Discussion

We look at Jung’s discovery of alchemy, which emerged as an experience without a name, in his work on the Red Book.  With his lover and companion, Toni Wolff, Jung shared his journey, which also became her journey, and another dimension of Christianity opened up.  It was hidden beneath the surface of orthodoxy and theology in Western Alchemy.

1.00 – 2.00  Lunch

2.00  The Secret of Love in Alchemy
Followed by Questions and Discussion

The journey through the Red Book is essentially a journey through the unknown, through darkness.  As Jung warned us, it is best not to take the journey alone.  This implies relatedness or Eros rather than a heroic attitude.  The struggle to evolve this feminine quality in our era  is a genuine effort of transformation.  It requires an objective attitude and takes us into the demanding feeling qualities of individuation and away from a more rational personal development.
